Screening #38 is in the books, and we had a lot of fun at Wake Forest University.
We’ve been driving quite a bit, but it’s always such a pleasure driving through the green, rolling hills of Virginia and North Carolina.
Our screening and dinner (with southern barbeque!) were organized by Wake Forest Young Americans for Freedom and College Democrats. After the screening, I spoke with the head of the College Democrats chapter. It sounds like the the political climate is pretty civilized at Wake Forest, and that allows for these kinds of bipartisan events.
He reminded me of Lucy from our movie when he mentioned that you don’t persuade many people by screaming at them.
We were also very encouraged to discover that two trustees from the university attended the event, including one of our hosts Bobby Burchfield. We also want to offer a hearty thanks to our other host Christina Elson who heads the Center for the Study of Capitalism at Wake Forest.
We met so many interesting people including Prof. Michelle Steward and Coddling movie subscriber Elisabeth, who is a former school board rep. She told me it’s “Elisabeth with an S,” but we have two other “Elisabeth with an S” subscribers, so I’ll give a shout out to all three of you! (UPDATE: Mystery solved — It was wonderful to meet you,
!)Today we’re flying to New York for tomorrow’s special screening with Jonathan Haidt. That will be a private event. Some paid subscribers are attending for free, but we’re now at capacity so we won’t be able to accommodate any more people for this event.
On the other hand, Princeton University is right around the corner (April 22) and that screening will be open to the public. (Please refer to our Tour Dates for more info.)
We’re really happy to have on-screen subject Saeed Malami joining us in NYC and at Princeton. And on-screen subject Anthony Rodriguez will be joining us tomorrow as well. That marks the first time since our Beverly Hills premiere (way back in February!) when we had the pleasure of having Anthony and Saeed at the same event.
Thanks again to the Wake Forest community.
More behind the paywall, including another bleary-eyed post-game wrap-up from our hotel room (where Courtney admits she thought Wake Forest’s mascot was a duck).
See you on the road!
Ted
